CDU re-nominates Victor Carapinha for the Lagoa City Council

Electrical maintenance technician Victor Carapinha is once again the CDU candidate for the Lagoa City Council in the October local elections, said a source from the coalition that brings together the PCP and PEV.
Victor Carapinha, 72, is running for mayor of Lagoa for the fourth time, the second consecutive time, after obtaining 3.26% of the votes in the 2021 elections, insufficient to secure one of the seven local government mandates.
The candidate stated that his plan for the next four years aims to "improve the municipality's development in strategic matters," highlighting housing as "one of the main priorities." Among his various proposals, he highlights the one to "revise the project that had successful results when the CDU had a councilor in the City Council, which is the project of controlled-cost construction and support for self-construction."
The problem of car parking and urban mobility are also among the priority proposals, "with the implementation of an urban public road transport network."
"At the same time, on the environmental front, we have proposals to enhance the natural heritage and take advantage of the potential of the left bank of the Arade River for water sports, tourism, and leisure," he noted.
Victor Carapinha has a history linked to associations and trade unions and is currently vice-president of the Portuguese Confederation of Cultural, Recreational and Sports Associations, and a member of the national council of the Union of Portuguese Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighters and the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation.
Between 1997 and 2021, he was a member of the CDU group in the Lagoa Municipal Assembly and Parish Assembly. He is also a member of the PCP's local municipal committee and the party's Algarve Regional Directorate.
