Belo Horizonte Mayor signs law creating Municipal Legendary Day

The mayor of Belo Horizonte, Álvaro Damião (União), sanctioned this Thursday 17th the law that institutes the Municipal Day of Legendaries , on July 23rd. The date will not be considered a holiday in the capital of Minas Gerais.
Authored by councilman Wanderley Porto (PRD), the law pays homage to the Christian movement that defines itself as the search for the transformation of men through experiences that lead them to find “the best version of themselves”.
Porto justifies the tribute because it is a movement that promotes “personal and social transformation, encouraging values of faith, courage and fraternity.”
Who are the legendary ones?Created in 2015 by Chepe Tupzu, pastor of the House of God Church in Guatemala, the movement defines itself as a group that seeks to transform men through experiences that supposedly lead them to discover new potential.
Currently, the movement has 108 chapters around the world—the second-largest group of followers is in Brazil. The Legendaries promote immersive "events" focused solely on men, with travel packages that can cost over R$80,000.
In June, a man died after participating in a trail with the group in Rondonópolis (MT), 218 kilometers from Cuiabá.
After the incident, the movement stated in a statement that the victim had felt unwell during a moment of reflection and spirituality at an "event." It added that the man "was in full physical condition to attend the event and had presented updated medical certificates proving his health."
