Alexandra Leitão accuses Carlos Moedas of taking millions from Gebalis to finance the Web Summit

Alexandra Leitão, the Socialist Party candidate for Lisbon City Council, accused Carlos Moedas of preparing to withdraw millions earmarked for Gebalis, a municipal company whose purpose is to promote and manage municipal housing properties, to finance increased spending on the Web Summit.
In a post made available this Tuesday on the social network "X", the former minister and socialist parliamentary leader considers that Carlos Moedas' government "is repeating the same mistake", alluding to the withdrawal of millions of euros from Carris that were later allocated to financing the Web Summit.
And he details: "After diverting millions from Carris to Web Summit, he's now doing the same to Gebalis. Lisbon recently received €4.6 million from the State to strengthen intervention in municipal neighborhoods. But Moedas is preparing to withdraw approximately €3 million from these program contracts tomorrow to finance a €5.6 million increase in Web Summit spending."
For Alexandra Leitão, this situation confirms that "mandatory and predictable expenses, such as the Web Summit, were underbudgeted and are now being paid for with funds that should be used to improve the lives of families in municipal neighborhoods."
"The chairman of the Gebalis board of directors has always stated that the company could execute as much as the financial resources allocated to it. It's worth asking Carlos Moedas: What Gebalis projects are compromised? What projects will not progress?" the candidate asked.
