David Ketchum, best known for his role as Agent 13 on the sitcom "The Eye of the Wild," died on August 10 at a hospital in Thousand Oaks, California, his daughter Nicole Madden confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 97 years old.
"He leaves a legacy of laughter, warmth, and timeless television moments - reminding everyone that sometimes the simplest surprise (like someone perched on a mailbox) can bring the biggest smile," the family told The Hollywood Reporter.
The news was also confirmed to People by the Ventura medical examiner's office.
Among the various projects that make up his career, David Ketchum also played Mel Warshaw alongside John Astin and Marty Ingalls in the ABC sitcom 'I'm Dickens, He's Fenster' between 1962 and 1963. He was also part of the NBC comedy 'Camp Runamuck' between 1965 and 1966.
David Ketchum was born in Quincy, Illinois, on February 4, 1928. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in engineering. "I had acted several times," he said in a 1965 interview. "But I couldn't settle for show business. I figured I'd eventually have to work to survive—so I studied engineering," he added.
The actor also appeared in a comedy scene about Hollywood in 'The Steve Allen Plymouth Show' in 1957, and also worked alongside Ken Berry, Jackie Joseph and Jo Anne Worley in Billy Barnes Revue, which arrived on Broadway in 1961.
But it doesn't stop there and, among many others, he also had appearances in 'The Real McCoys', 'The Munsters', 'Good Morning World', 'Gomer Pyle', 'Mod Squad', 'That Girl', 'Green Acres', 'The Odd Couple', 'Happy Days' and 'Alice'.
He was also part of films such as 'Good Neighbor Sam' (1964), 'The Grasshopper' (1970), 'Bless the Beasts & Children' (1971), 'Your Three Minutes Are Up' (1973), 'The North Avenue Irregulars' (1979), 'Love at First Bite' (1979), 'The Main Event' (1979), 'Young Doctors in Love' (1982) and 'The Other Sister' (1999).
David Ketchum is survived by his wife, Louise, whom he married in August 1957, his daughters Nicole and Wendy, his grandchildren Hannah, Alison and Cameron, and his great-grandson Noah.
