Wall Street closed the first trading session of September down, continuing the negative trend seen since the session opened.
Technology led the losses, with the Nasdaq falling 0.82% (21,279.63 points), followed by the S&P500 (-0.69%) and the Dow Jones (-0.55%).
According to Millennium Investment Banking's daily market analysis, "the revelation that industrial activity eased its contraction in August, with positive signs such as a return to growth in new orders, was not enough to encourage investors."
