Portugal is in national mourning this Thursday for the 15 fatalities resulting from the Glória elevator accident late yesterday afternoon. The death toll has risen to 23, with at least five in critical condition.
The National Institute of Forensic Medicine's teams have been reinforced to speed up victim identification and autopsies . According to Sic Notícias, the work should be completed by late morning today. So far, only the brakeman has been identified. The Institute has activated its mass casualty plan to respond to the number of victims.
