Revigrés revolutionizes ceramics in Portugal with new sustainable production line

Innovation has arrived with force in the Portuguese ceramics industry.

With an investment of 16 million euros, Revigrés, one of the leading brands in the sector, took a bold and visionary step by implementing a new, pioneering production line in Portugal, which combines cutting-edge technology, environmental awareness and excellent design.

This advance does not represent just a technical update: it is a profound transformation in the way ceramic coatings are viewed. It is a clear commitment to a future where energy efficiency in ceramic production, the reduction of CO2 emissions and the use of green hydrogen in industry are no longer distant goals, but tangible realities.

The national ceramics sector enters a new era with this state-of-the-art infrastructure.

For the first time in Portugal, a production line with advanced ceramic technology was installed, incorporating state-of-the-art equipment, capable of operating with an unprecedented level of automation and precision.

This technological leap not only reinforces the competitiveness of the national sector on a global level, but also positions the company responsible as a pioneer in the sustainable and intelligent manufacture of ceramic coverings, increasingly sought after for their durability, aesthetics and versatility.

One of the most significant milestones of this new line is moldless pressing, a revolutionary system that allows for quick format changes, reducing setup time and material waste.

The ability to produce large-format ceramics, with dimensions reaching an impressive 120×278 cm and thicknesses ranging from 6 to 20 mm, opens doors to new creative and functional possibilities for both architects and interior designers.

Furthermore, the flexibility of the raw cut further increases the potential of the line, allowing for custom adaptations with millimeter precision.

The commitment to sustainability goes far beyond the materials used.

The line was designed to maximize energy efficiency in ceramic production. An example of this is the multi-plane horizontal drying system, which uses the heat generated during the cooling of the kiln to dry the pieces efficiently.

But the innovation doesn't stop there: the new state-of-the-art ovens provide energy savings of around 20% per square meter produced, compared to traditional ovens.

This technical advance directly translates into a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, contributing to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly production process.

Adaptable production capacity is one of the biggest advantages of this new Revigrés production line.

Thanks to the moldless pressing system, it is possible to respond quickly to market trends, creating customized ceramic coverings in different sizes and thicknesses without compromising delivery times.

Furthermore, this versatility allows for the more efficient integration of exclusive collections and limited series, reinforcing the link between industrial innovation and creative freedom.

The result? Products that are not only functional, but truly inspiring for residential, commercial and public projects.

One of the most ambitious and visionary aspects of this new line is the clear commitment to the energy transition, with ovens prepared to operate with up to 50% green hydrogen .

This advance, combined with a system for the total recovery of hot gases from the furnace (which allows the preheating of the primary combustion air), demonstrates that it is possible to combine technology and environmental responsibility without compromising quality or profitability.

Additionally, the existing furnaces at the unit were adapted to allow partial combustion with up to 15% green hydrogen, anticipating the evolution towards production completely free of fossil fuels.

With this new phase, the company takes a clear stance: investing in solutions that benefit both the planet and its customers.

In this context, investment in sustainable production is no longer a simple trend but a strategic pillar that reflects leadership guided by responsibility and innovation.

By combining sustainability with a contemporary and versatile design, the products resulting from this line not only meet the technical demands of construction and design professionals, but also meet the values of an increasingly aware and demanding public.

We are witnessing a true silent revolution in the ceramic coatings sector, made of technology, vision and respect for the planet.

This new Revigrés production line is living proof that innovation in the Portuguese ceramics industry is more alive than ever and ready to lead the future.

By integrating mold-free pressing, large-format ceramic production, advanced ceramic technology, the use of green hydrogen and concrete measures to reduce CO2 emissions, this project marks a new era.

An era where design and sustainability go hand in hand, and where every productive decision is also a conscious step towards a better world.
