Azores Regional Deputy Director of Budget and Treasury Dies

The regional deputy director of the Budget and Treasury of the Azores, Rogério Gomes Moitoso , died this Saturday at the age of 60, with the president of the Regional Government highlighting the technical competence and rigor with which he performed his duties.
Rogério Gomes Moitoso, a native of the parish of Praia do Norte, on the island of Faial, died of illness at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, according to a source from the regional executive.
Rogério Gomes Moitoso holds a degree in Business Organization and Management from the University of the Azores and a postgraduate degree in Economic and Business Sciences from the Catholic University and was appointed to the position of Regional Deputy Director of the Budget and Treasury of the Azores on September 21, 2022.
In a note of condolence, the president of the Azorean Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM), José Manuel Bolieiro, said that he received the “sad news” of the death of the regional deputy director of the Budget and Treasury with “enormous regret and a deep sense of consternation”.
“Throughout a life dedicated to public service, Rogério Moitoso distinguished himself through his technical competence, the rigor with which he performed his duties and, above all, the honest, discreet and deeply human way in which he always served the Autonomous Region of the Azores,” he added.
According to the governor, the regional deputy director of the Budget and Treasury of the Azores had a "solid and exemplary" career in the Regional Public Administration and was "a constant and respected presence in various technical structures and bodies supporting the Regional Government, participating with a strong sense of mission in processes fundamental to the credibility and balance of regional public finances."
His professional career “was also marked by a constant willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, and contribute to constructive solutions, always with an attitude of dialogue, thoughtfulness, and a sense of responsibility.”
In addition to his professional qualities, Bolieiro says that “the memory of a kind, loyal colleague who was genuinely committed to the common good remains.”
“May the example and legacy of Rogério Moitoso live on in the memory of all who had the privilege of being close to him,” concluded the president of the Azorean executive.
The Azores Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists also expressed its “deep regret” at the death of Rogério Gomes Moitoso.
"He graduated in Business Organization and Management from the University of the Azores and dedicated more than three decades to regional public administration, where he held positions of great responsibility in the area of finance, making a notable contribution to the development and modernization of the financial policies of the Autonomous Region of the Azores," he said in a note of condolence published on the social network Facebook.
