Conversations for young people in secret and unlikely places

The “SMF Youth Talks”, organized by the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira for young people aged 16 to 30, and held in “unlikely” and “outside the box” places, will return in September and registration is now open. These are "informal conversations of reflection and inspiration, created to promote moments of learning, sharing, awareness and growth, seeking to respond to the desires and expectations of young people." The themes "are defined based on current issues, aiming to awaken participants' sensitivity, reflection, and critical awareness regarding topics such as sustainability, work, media, and social networks." Session locations are only revealed to participants the day before each meeting. The first conversation, scheduled for September 6th, from 4 to 6 pm, will focus on "Lifestyle & Personal Branding," a topic of great relevance for young people today, who are increasingly exposed to social media, where image and personal identity are at the forefront. The conversation will be moderated by Fernando Cavadas and led by Ana Pereira, a psychology graduate and content creator, along with Mariana Ribeiro, a master's in Marketing Management and entrepreneur. The second conversation, scheduled for September 13th at the same time, will focus on the topic of "Emotional Intelligence" and will feature Inês Homem de Melo, a psychiatrist at CRI Porto Ocidental, a unit dedicated to treating patients with substance and behavioral addictions, and also specializing in invisible disabilities such as autism, hyperactivity, attention deficit, and neurodevelopmental disorders in adults. João Francisco Lima is also invited to this shared conversation. Founder of the mental health platform "Mind Match," entrepreneur, author, speaker, and change agent, he challenges outdated beliefs and encourages a conscious approach to psychological well-being. Both “talks” are limited to 40 young people, and are subject to prior registration with BOL and a symbolic fee of four euros per session. It should be remembered that, in previous editions, the “SMF Youth Talks” have already taken place, among other places, in a kiwi plantation, inside an empty swimming pool, in deactivated or fully operational factories, in a scrapyard, on the terrace of Europarque and in the middle of the roundabout of the Monument to the Spirit of Feirense.
For more information, interested parties should contact the Youth Office of the Santa Maria da Feira City Council, via email [email protected] or by telephone 939 227 711 (call to the national mobile network).
