More than half of Portuguese people want to protect their homes. And Worten wants to help.

Whether perceived or a greater real risk, the truth is that home security is becoming a priority for the Portuguese. And although only 12% currently have an alarm system connected to a central control unit, 54% would like to purchase such a system to protect their home. This is revealed by a recent study by Netsonda for Worten, which interviewed Portuguese people aged 25 to 65 and concluded that, despite a strong desire to join, many do not do so due to cost issues. Among those surveyed, 44% say they have never had an alarm at home because they could not afford the price, and 34% admit they once had one but canceled the service due to the cost.
It is this reality that the brand aims to change, with the launch of the Worten Securitas 24h Alarm service, a solution that promises to "democratize residential security in the country" and thus respond to families' biggest concerns: the study showed that 44% intend to purchase an alarm, motivated mainly by protection against break-ins (69%), the peace of mind of being able to monitor the home while they are away (63%) and family security (61%).
This is particularly true given other data from the study, which shows that 14% of Portuguese people have experienced a robbery or break-in at their home, and 59% know someone in that situation. Among current alarm users, almost two-thirds justify their purchase out of a need for security, while a quarter cite fear of robberies in their area.
With the internet being the main source of information about alarms (63%), despite almost half saying they prefer to sign the contract in person (43%), Worten believes it has an advantage here. "This study confirms that security is a growing priority in Portuguese homes," comments Joana Ribeiro da Silva, COO Services at Worten, explaining the investment in the Worten Securitas 24h Alarm as a way to "reinforce the commitment to democratizing access to security, with a competitive, reliable service adapted to various customer profiles." The service, launched in 2024 in partnership with Securitas and NOS, stands out for being "affordable (starting at €39.99/month), technologically advanced, with continuous monitoring, installation by certified professionals, remote control via app , and pet-friendly technology."
According to the study, when deciding to purchase a system, consumers primarily value value for money (90%), system efficiency (89%), and overall service quality (88%). Current users prioritize family safety at home, especially in households with children (57%), followed by home monitoring (69%) and the protection of valuables (49%). Vandalism prevention and access control are also important factors for many.
Regarding alarm use, 66% of respondents say they activate it whenever the house is empty and the entire family is away, while 59% activate the system whenever they leave, regardless of the length of their absence. The most valued features are guaranteed operation even during power or network outages (86%), 24-hour assistance (85%), and direct connection to authorities, such as the police or fire department (85%).
In a country where home security is increasingly important in consumer decisions, Worten is stepping in to ensure that protecting your home is within everyone's reach.
