Faurecia workers on strike Tuesday for better wages

The Fiequimetal trade union federation (affiliated with the CGTP) blamed the new administration for the strike, claiming that from the first meeting to negotiate the list of demands, on January 24, until the last meeting, on July 11, there was “a lack of response and commitment from the employers” and the proposed salary increase is “a mere pittance”.
"The new administration completely devalues all of the workers' demands, from salary increases to transportation allowances, cleaning and uniform maintenance, food, as well as seniority and vacation pay. It thus attempts to cut short a path of some recognition, pursued by the previous administration, in terms of salary and working conditions," the statement reads.
According to the union structure, workers “do not accept a salary increase of pennies”, arguing that the company has been presenting increasingly larger profits every year (14 million euros in 2022, 17 million euros in 2023 and 18 million euros in 2024).
Tuesday's strike was approved at a workers' plenary meeting on July 15.
On the day of the strike, there will be a gathering at 11:00 in front of the company doors.
Faurecia belongs to the French group Forvia, one of the largest producers of automotive components, which has several factories in Portugal.
