Father José Dionísio passed away

Father José António Dionísio Sousa passed away at the age of 58, this Saturday, September 13, at Fundão Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for less than a week.

The funeral rites will take place at the Church of the Holy Trinity, in Covilhã, this Sunday, September 14, at 7:00 pm, presided over by the Bishop of Guarda , D. José Pereira.

On Monday, September 15th, at 11:00 am, the funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Parish Church of Orjais.

Father José António Dionísio Sousa was born on February 22, 1967. He was ordained on February 2, 1992, at the Guarda Cathedral.

After working on the training team at the Fundão Seminary, he joined the team at the Guarda Seminary where he was a Liturgy teacher.

At that time he was parish priest of Aldeia do Bispo and Vale de Estrela.

He studied Liturgy in Paris.

From 2003 to 2007 he was parish priest in solidum of the parishes of Sé de S. Vicente, in Guarda.

In 2007 he was appointed parish priest of the parishes of Vale do Mondego and in 2016 parish priest “in Solidum” of the Parish of S. Miguel da Guarda together with the parishes of Jarmelo and Gonçalbocas.

He was a professor of Liturgy at the Higher Institute of Theology.

He was parish priest in the archpriesthood of Covilhã/Belmonte (Boidobra, Covilhã – Santa Maria, Covilhã – São José, Covilhã – São Martinho (Saint Martin), Peso, Vila do Carvalho.

In recent times he was parish priest of the parishes of São José, Vila do Carvalho and Santa Maria, in Covilhã.
