David Mayo and Flávia Lopes win the Bragança Granfondo

In the men's mediofondo, Tiago Teixeira (DBL Bike) secured victory in Portugal's biggest amateur cycling competition. A similar feat was achieved by Fábio Abreu (Two Hundred Sports) and Mónica Hernández (Love Tiles) in the minifondo. These athletes join granfondista Flávia Lopes (Brinox), the first to secure the yellow jersey, a symbol of victory in the Trophy.
In the overall standings, David Mayo's pace at the 7th edition of the Bragança Granfondo unsurprisingly earned him another comfortable victory in the 126 km "queen" distance. The Spaniard from Love Tiles finished in 3:32:33, leaving Jorge Mariz (Penacova) and Miguel García (Love Tiles) behind, in second and third place, respectively, 4:43 behind.
In the women's race, Flávia Lopes confirmed her favoritism in the granfondo distance and repeated her triumphs this season in Viana do Castelo and Gerês. She crossed the finish line on Avenida D. Sancho I with the clock showing a time of 4:41:33. Ângela Tejedor (ind.) finished 28:21 behind the winner and in second place, while Emília Recio finished third, 38:45.
In the mediofondo, with a time of 2:26:30, Nuno Torres (Secai) prevailed over his closest rivals, from whom he isolated himself in the final third of the race. The battle for the other two podium spots was fierce between Tiago Teixeira (DBL Bike) and José Oliveira (Paredes), with the former taking an advantage. Even so, they spent 1:20 more than the winner to complete the 82-km stage.
The women's division was won by Marlene Seara (Brinox), who in Bragança secured her fourth of five possible victories. A time of 2:59:31 gave her a comfortable victory, as Ana Frias (Love Tiles) and Ana Sobreira (Loves Tiles) – 2nd and 3rd, in that order – were 13:11 more.
In the 46km minifondo, the gaps were narrower. Cláudio Santos (Paredes) edged out Fábio Abreu (Two Hundred Sports) by just two seconds, finishing with a time of 1:21:27. Rounding out the podium, Cristiano Moura, 15 seconds ahead of the leader, was an individual finisher.
Ana Arsénio (Penacova), with a time of 1:41:58, took the women's victory in the minifondo. Sofia Rodrigues and Mónica Hernández, both wearing the colors of Love Tiles, moved into the next positions – 4:18 and 8:23, respectively.
The "world's most lively grandondo," as it is known, featured athletes of 20 nationalities and had the União Ciclista de Bragança team with the most members competing: 63. Provided by caretos, bass drums, philharmonic bands, and a DJ, the entertainment along the routes mobilized over two hundred people.
