In the allegations submitted to the STF this Monday , Paulo Gonet claims that former minister Walter Braga Netto was responsible for the most violent actions of the coup d'état plan .
"Using his considerable influence within the decision-making body of the Presidency of the Republic, the defendant acted decisively to ensure the success of the coup attempt, coordinating the criminal organization's most violent actions and spearheading initiatives to pressure the Army High Command," the Attorney General's Office said.
The general is described as a figure with a “crucial role” in the coup plot, being the link between protesters and military personnel who organized clandestine actions.
“The evidence leaves no doubt that Braga Netto, an ally of Jair Bolsonaro , was the one coordinating the attacks… His role was crucial in ensuring the continuity of the mobilization and in keeping the protesters motivated, telling them that 'it wasn't over yet', while internally military action was awaited,” says the head of the PGR.
Gonet also claims that Braga Netto, who was Jair Bolsonaro's running mate in the 2022 elections, was the commander of the organization that worked to "create social chaos" in Brazil to create the conditions for a military coup.
"Under Braga Netto's command, the criminal organization deliberately set out to create social chaos: fabricating unfounded allegations of electoral fraud; disseminating fake news against the Judiciary; launching smear campaigns; and financing anti-democratic demonstrations," writes Gonet.
