Bia Haddad falls in Monterrey and goes to the US Open after four consecutive losses

Bouzkova, who now has two consecutive victories over Bia (she also won in Rome/2025), advances to the quarterfinals and will face the winner of the match between Croatian Antonia Ruzic (#89) and Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (#87).
How it happenedBia started the match better, earning two break chances in the third game, but missed both with backhands hitting the net. The Brazilian, who played with a bandaged left shoulder, continued to hold her serve without any major problems and had another chance in the seventh game. After a beautiful short volley, she had two more break points. Bouzkova played well to save the first, and in the second, Bia missed another backhand. The Czech escaped once again and went 4-3.
Bouzkova gained momentum and, in the eighth game, earned her first break point with a parallel backhand. Fortunately for Bia, the Czech missed a second serve return and wasted her chance. The Brazilian saved a second break point with a great open serve, but Bouzkova converted on her third chance by coming to the net and hitting a superb volley. Shortly after, the Czech held serve and made it 6-3 after 53 minutes of play.
The second set began with two more break points for Bia, and once again, Bouzkova saved both with excellent play. In the very next game, the Brazilian lost serve again after committing three consecutive unforced errors. The Czech player went up 3-1 and counted on another backhand error from the São Paulo native to give her another break chance. In the second, she hit an unstoppable parallel hit, making the score 4-1.
Bouzkova's lead was strong, but Bia sparked a comeback when she finally converted a break point—her eighth of the match—and reduced the deficit to 4-3 when she held serve in the seventh game. The Czech, however, still had a break to her name and seemed headed for a straightforward victory until she had two match points and committed two consecutive double faults. Bouzkova, however, earned a third chance with a sideways winner. This time, the European didn't hesitate. She forced an error from Bia and closed out the match.
