A traveler visited 50 cities in Europe. This is the most underrated one.

Ljubljana is one of the cleanest and friendliest cities in all of Europe. Unfortunately, even tourists traveling to the Balkans often rush past it, hoping to get to Croatian beaches even faster. The Slovenian capital recently became number one in a ranking of the most underrated cities in Europe. The list was compiled by a British author of the blog ScottVisits, who, in addition to Ljubljana, also included Ksamil, Mostar, and Tivat.

Underrated Ljubljana

Some European cities need no introduction. Everyone, even those who have never been abroad, has heard a few words about London, Paris, Rome, or Berlin. But Europe is not just about large metropolises or crowded historic towns. Tourists are often most impressed by places that are less talked about, making them more surprising.

One such city is Ljubljana—the charming capital of Slovenia, still underrated on the European tourist map. Although small, it has everything you'd expect from a European city: a beautiful old town, atmospheric pubs, canals, bridges, and even a castle towering over the rooftops. Most importantly, all of this is surrounded by greenery, something sorely lacking in larger capitals. "This is a city ideal for exploring on foot," we read.

We will arrive directly from Poland

Last month, Polish tourists were given a unique opportunity to visit Ljubljana. Just board the Adriatic Express train in Warsaw, Opoczno, Włoszczowa, Katowice, or Rybnik, and within a few hours they'll be on the streets of the Slovenian capital. Along the way, passengers will pass Ostrava and Vienna, and after a stop in Ljubljana, the train will continue on to Rijeka.
