Robert Lewandowski has made a decision regarding the Polish national team. A clear declaration!

Let's recall that "Lewy" was unexpectedly stripped of the Polish national team captaincy during the national team's June training camp. However, this occurred amidst scandal, as the then-Polish coach, Michał Probierz, decided to strip the FC Barcelona striker of his position, informing him… by phone. Besides, in those June days, absurdity piled on absurdity.
Jan Urban is clear about Robert Lewandowski's return. Important news!Lewandowski's reaction to such disrespectful treatment from the (now) former manager was unequivocal. RL9 announced via social media that he would be resigning from the Polish national team as long as it remained under Probierz's management. Ultimately, Piotr Zieliński, appointed by the manager, took over the captaincy, even though the midfielder was injured and… Jan Bednarek became captain. However, the defender, as captain, failed to lead the team to success, as the Poles suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat in Helsinki to Finland.
Probierz ultimately resigned as coach, and Jan Urban became the new manager. The Polish Football Association, led by president Cezary Kulesza, seems to have made the right choice from an image perspective. The former coach of Górnik Zabrze, among others, has a reputation for uniting, not necessarily dividing. This is crucial given the numerous problems mounting around and within the national team. Of course, this is also a parallel topic to the national team's sporting results.
Urban was a guest on Tuesday (August 12) on RMF FM, where he addressed several important issues. One of the most important was Lewandowski's potential return to the national team . The coach had some pretty good news on the matter.
"I spoke with Robert Lewandowski by phone and was asked if he wanted to return. He said yes. So we've made a step forward [...] I'd like to inform the team before the first training camp who will be the first, second, and third captain," admitted the new Polish coach.
The national football team faces two crucial matches in early September as they look to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Jan Urban's debut as head coach will take place on September 4th, when the Netherlands will play against Poland. The team will play in front of a Polish crowd three days later, this time against Poland in the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
