Pizza for a Medal? Malwina Smarzek Returns with a Bet

On August 23, the Polish women's team will begin competing at the World Championships in Indonesia. Malwina Smarzek spoke with Adrian Brzozowski for Polsat Sport about the goals and preparations for the upcoming tournament.
The Polish national team attacker spoke about the competition with exotic teams that we will face in the group stage.
"Kenya isn't so anonymous anymore. I think they know how to play volleyball, so I don't like matches like that because they're 3-0 games, and sometimes when something doesn't work out, it causes frustration. We have to stay focused and play our volleyball," she said.
Smarzek talked about the team's attitude before the start of the championship.
"I think everyone realizes how important this tournament is, and it can be considered second only to the Olympics. It's a target event, I think we feel prepared, we're training well. I think we feel better than before, and that 'peak' can come at the most important matches," she said.
Malwina was asked about the League of Nations bet related to the gold medal and the famous pineapple pizza.
"Bronze wasn't enough of a medal to offer him. I think I'd be making a fool of myself then. We could repeat this bet with a medal at the world championships. I think he'll agree to that," she said jokingly.
The Polish national team will begin competition on August 23rd. In their group, they will play against Vietnam, Kenya, and Germany.
