Daria Szynkaruk (PGE MKS El-Volt): I feel that I am developing in Lublin
What are your first impressions of the Edward Jankowski Memorial?
"I feel like I'm developing at this club, and that's what I'm most happy about. I'm also happy with this tournament, although there's still a lot to improve. The memorial was a chance to get to know each other and learn how each of the girls behaves on the pitch."
What was particularly striking was the joy of playing, which was evident in every move...
"We were looking forward to that first game, because there's so much training and running around without the ball in the stadium. Each of us celebrated every goal, good move, or pass."
How would you rate the new players?
"The new players have integrated well into the team. It's simply fantastic. You couldn't tell they were new. Maria Prieto O'Mullony and Patricia Lima have played together, so it might be easier for them. We talk a lot to help them integrate more easily into our game."
On the pitch, you took Julia Owczaruk under your wing, giving her plenty of feedback. Was that your role?
"It's harder for younger players to break in. We want everything to run smoothly. I was young once myself and needed support."
You have a tournament coming up in Romania. Will you face stronger opponents there?
"Romania will have higher-level teams and a stronger game. I hope we'll show good handball. Results are secondary, as we need to be ready for the Super Cup and the start of the season. Playing against strong teams is important, though, because it gets you used to playing stronger."
