Big money is on the table! This is the price for winning the World Cup.

Men's volleyball fans across the globe have been waiting for this day. September 12th marks the opening of the World Championships in the Philippines. This year's event will have a unique dimension, as the FIVB has secured a record prize pool. The competition will not only be about sporting splendor and prestige, but also a sizable cash prize.

Of course, volleyball is still a long way from the prize money that footballers receive at similar tournaments, but it seems that this year's gold-winning team has no reason to complain. The FIVB has provided the winners with a whopping $1 million to split, or just under $4 million złoty. The loser of the final will receive $500,000 (just under $2 million złoty), while the bronze medalist will receive $250,000 (just under $1 million złoty).

That's not all, as significant prizes also await players who win individual awards. The tournament MVP will receive $100,000, or nearly 400,000 złoty, and each volleyball player who makes the dream team will earn $50,000, or just under 200,000 złoty.

These are record-breaking amounts, unheard of in the history of not only the World Championships but also volleyball events in general. Previously, the Nations League was considered the most profitable.

The World Championships in the Philippines are scheduled to begin on September 12th. The event will run until September 28th. Poland, who won silver at the previous World Cup and are now aiming for their fourth gold medal, will play Romania, the Netherlands, and Qatar in the group stage.
