King's basketball players lost the first quarter-final match of the Orlen Basket League. In Sopot, Trefl decided the match in favor in the last action. The hero of the match was Nick Johnson, whose points secured Trefl's victory

Trefl Sopot - King Szczecin 85:84 (26:30, 22:16, 18:17, 19:21)

Club: Nicholas Johnson 26, Jakub Schenk 21, Aaron Best 9, Darious Lee Moten 8, Geoffrey Groselle 6, Keondre Kennedy 5, Marcus Weathers 5, Nahiem Alleyne 3, Mikołaj Witliński 2.

King: Aleksander Dziewa 24, James Woodard 18, Jovan Novak 12, Kassim Nicholson 11, Przemysław Zolnierewicz 6, Marcus Lee 6, Isaiah Whitehead 5, Mateusz Kostrzewski 2, Tony Meier 0, Maciej Żmudzki 0, Adam Brenk 0

The beginning was great for the hosts, who were leading 7:0 after Best's three-pointer. The players from Szczecin quickly responded with long-range shots. King's great attitude and Dziewa's effective play allowed coach Miłoszewski's players to take the lead and end the first quarter with 30 points. In the later part of the match, the players from Szczecin did not play so great in the offensive and at times had big problems forcing Trefl's defense. The game was still even, but the lead changed hands. Johnson's long-range shots led to another equalizer right at the beginning of the second quarter. This part of the match, however, was not as offensive. Thanks to Nicholson's later action, the guests escaped by seven points, but Trefl responded with a 9:0 series and after Johnson's three-pointer, the first half ended with the score 48:46.

After actions by Woodard, Nicholson and Dziewa, King regained the lead. However, it changed quickly and thanks to Kennedy's hits after 30 minutes it was 66:63. In the next part of the match, coach Tabak's team quickly escaped by nine points after actions by Schenk and Johnson. Threes by Novak and Dziewa gave the Szczecin team an advantage. However, in the very end Johnson scored a key three and he became the hero! Dziewa missed in response, which meant Trefl's victory 85:84. Trefl's victory could have been much higher if not for 19 missed free throws.

The second match between Trefl and King is scheduled for Friday again in Sopot. The competition will move to Szczecin on Monday. (voivodeship)
