Linda Weiszewski delivered the devastating news. A top Polish bobsledder had an accident on the track during training for the world championships in Lake Placid. As a result of the incident, the 25-year-old lost part of her finger. She described the whole situation via social media.
The tragedy happened during one of the training sessions. The Polish representative was testing the track before the start of the competition. Then the accident happened.
"The World Championships have just ended for me. After the first day and the first three runs, I was happy to have reached the finish line. Unfortunately, it was the first and last day for me in Lake Placid. One moment of inattention, one bad decision and I lost a piece of my left ring finger. The season ended for me in a way I did not expect. Now I have a month's break to sort everything out in my head. I hope to return to training soon to start preparing for the Olympic season," Weiszewski wrote on Instagram. She accompanied the post with drastic photos of the injured finger.
Let us recall that the 25-year-old is currently the best Polish single-lifter. The German-born representative of the "White and Reds" is also doing well in the doubles with Klaudia Adamek. Weiszewski regularly competes in the World Cup. Now she was supposed to take part in the world championships, but a serious injury prevented her from further competition.
The World Championships in Lake Placid will begin on March 6 and last 10 days. Athletes will compete in both bobsleigh and skeleton.
