36th place, an absolute nightmare for the giants! This is what the Champions League table looks like
I don't think anyone expected these two teams to be bottom of the Champions League table after four rounds of league play. Benfica and Ajax Amsterdam haven't yet recorded a single draw, let alone a win. The two major clubs sit in 35th and 36th place, respectively, a significant number of points behind the top teams.
Suffice it to say that even Kairat Almaty has scored its debut point. Cypriot side Paphos already has five points, while Karabakh Agdam has amassed seven, adding to their tally a home draw with Chelsea today. Who knows, Paphos and Karabakh might even be in contention for a spot in the Champions League Round of 16?
English Premier League fans have the most reason to celebrate. Four teams are in the top eight, which would limit their need to play further knockout matches. Arsenal are second, Manchester City fourth, Newcastle United sixth, and Liverpool eighth.
Tottenham is also close to advancing, sitting in 10th place. FC Barcelona, meanwhile, is in 11th place, having dropped points against Club Brugge. Besides the aforementioned Benfica and Ajax, Juventus is also a major disappointment, having earned only three points from three draws and remaining winless.
