Currently, annual leave for health reasons is associated with teachers, among others. However, according to the Trade Union Alternative, three months of health leave for all employees should be included in the Labor Code. The condition would be to work in a given company for 7 years.

The Alternative Union proposed the introduction of regenerative leave some time ago as a way to improve the well-being of employees in Poland. The inspiration for this initiative is the sick leave system for teachers, regulated in Article 73 of the Teachers' Charter Act of 16 January 1982. Currently, teachers can take annual leave to improve their health after working for 7 years, provided they obtain the consent of an occupational physician.
- It is difficult to understand why other groups do not have the right to a similar solution. We propose that the Labor Code be amended to include the right to regenerative leave for all employees who have worked in a given company for 7 years. The leave should be fully paid and automatically granted upon the employee's request. It seems that the optimal period of rest would be three months - argues Piotr Szumlewicz, chairman of the Union Alternative.
At the same time, he explained that the time indicated in the proposal would be sufficient for rest and regeneration, which at the same time would not interfere with the functioning of a given company or institution. The right to another regeneration leave would be after another seven years.
Interestingly, ZA proposes that employees employed in the public sector should be entitled to leave regardless of the change of place of employment, which could encourage qualified people to continue their careers in the same industry.
Rules for health leaveHealth leave , sometimes also referred to as sick leave, has been granted by the legislator only to certain employees (professional groups), which include:
- teachers,
- judges,
- prosecutors,
- policemen,

- the teacher has worked continuously for at least 7 years at a school, working no less than ½ of the compulsory number of hours, and in the event of a break in employment, has resumed employment no later than within three months.
