Rape right outside Łódź Widzew train station. Police track down 35-year-old man

Early in the morning of July 24th, a young woman was heading to the Widzew train station. On Adamieckiego Street, just outside the station, she was attacked by an unknown man. The attacker, who was grappling with her, silenced her throughout the attack before raping her. As soon as she was released, the victim immediately reported the attack to the police.

This shocking and complex case was investigated by detectives from the 6th Police Precinct in Łódź. The investigation was complicated because little was known about the man. He appeared suddenly and disappeared just as quickly.

However, a meticulous analysis of the entire incident yielded the desired result. Where acts of violence occur between aggressor and victim, traces, often microscopic, always remain. It was after analyzing the collected clues, among other things, that investigators identified the rapist. Police arrested the suspect at his workplace on August 6th. The 35-year-old Łódź resident was completely taken by surprise.

Officers compared the evidence they collected with information they received from the 50-year-old woman at the end of July 2025. Early that morning, the woman was walking through Widzewski Park when she was grabbed by the leg by an unknown man. When she screamed, the attacker fled.

The woman who was attacked at the time didn't want to file a report because she didn't feel she had been wronged. However, police continued to investigate the incident. It turned out that the same man was involved in both cases.

The suspect has already been charged with rape, assault, and theft at the Łódź-Widzew District Prosecutor's Office. At the prosecutor's request, he was remanded in custody for the next three months. He faces up to 15 years in prison for these crimes.
