Griekspoor saves 5 match points and wins in Bastad

Griekspoor will face compatriot Jesper de Jong in the quarterfinals. The 25-year-old North Hollander won earlier on Wednesday against the Czech Vit Kopriva (7-6 (3) 7-5).

The match against Pellegrino went to 4-5 without any break points, after which the Italian immediately capitalized on his first opportunity. Griekspoor rallied from a break down twice in the second set and saved five match points in total, but still won in the tiebreak. In the third set, a break was enough for him to take the victory.

For Griekspoor, it was his first match since his first-round exit at Wimbledon. In Bastad, the second-seeded Dutchman had a bye in the first round. At the end of June, Griekspoor captured his third ATP title in Mallorca.
