The latest iPhone, version 17, was launched this week by Apple. It's no wonder you'd want to buy a new one right away. Whether it's the 17 or perhaps the 14, older devices always become a bit cheaper when a new version is available. However, it's wise to wait a bit before buying, as it can save you a considerable amount of money.
In the video above, our tech expert Sebastiën Hoek from WANT explains exactly what specifications the iPhone 17 has.
Buying a new iPhone —especially the latest model—isn't within everyone's reach. These devices can be quite expensive, but savings platform Raisin discovered that with a little patience, you can save money. Researcher Jasper Berkhout examined the prices of 24 iPhone models, including black iPhone 14, 15, and 16 models with two different storage capacities.
Turns out, waiting three months after the launch of a new Apple device can easily save you between €50 and €80. If you wait two years to buy a particular model (for example, if you buy an iPhone 15 in 2025), you can save between €300 and €400. That's compared to the price at launch.
For example, the iPhone 16 with the smallest available storage (128GB) cost €969 at launch. After three months, however, you could buy it for €859. And if you wait a year? Then you can get it for €735, a 24 percent price drop.
Raisin also discovered something else interesting: the prices of new iPhones have been relatively stable for years, despite the fact that many prices are rising . The suggested retail price of the standard iPhone 17 is €969, the same as for the iPhone 15 and 16.
