In the seventh episode of this season of Behind Closed Doors, the award-winning investigative podcast from the FD, we reflect on the trial and the verdict with the defense. How is it possible that Robbert Jonk, Van Eerd's lawyer, expected his client's acquittal right up until the moment the harsh verdict was announced? On what basis does he believe Van Eerd didn't have a fair chance, and why does Christian Flokstra, the lawyer for main suspect Theo E., dismiss that notion? The FD (Federation of Dutch Financial Times) has been following the criminal case against Van Eerd since the day he was arrested. In the podcast, FD journalists Paulien Sewuster, Bart Mos, and Jan Braaksma delve deeper into the case. They attended all the court hearings, spoke with numerous insiders and experts, and were able to review portions of the criminal file. They also interviewed the lawyers involved and the prosecutor.
