Trump announces that Israel has agreed to an initial withdrawal from Gaza and calls on Hamas to accept

US President Donald Trump has announced an agreement with Israel for an "initial disengagement line" in Gaza, which he has shared with Hamas, and has called on the Palestinian group to accept the conditions for an "immediate" ceasefire and the release of hostages and prisoners stipulated in his peace plan for the Strip.
"Following negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line , which we have shown and shared with Hamas. When Hamas confirms it, the ceasefire will be IMMEDIATE , the exchange of hostages and prisoners will begin, and we will set the conditions for the next phase of the withdrawal," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network on Saturday.
The US president accompanied his message with a map of the besieged Palestinian enclave, showing the limits to which the Israeli army had initially agreed to withdraw.
Trump insisted that this cessation of hostilities "will bring this 3,000-YEAR-OLD CATASTROPHE to an end" and bring peace to the Middle East.
The US president, who last Monday presented a 20-point peace plan , which was accepted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had already warned Hamas a few hours earlier that he "will not tolerate delays" that could jeopardize the peace agreement in Gaza.
"I appreciate that Israel has temporarily halted the bombing to allow the opportunity to finalize the release of hostages and the peace agreement. Hamas must act quickly; otherwise, all will be lost. I will not tolerate delays, as many believe will occur," he wrote in a previous post on Truth Social.
Trump celebrated on Friday that Hamas agreed to release the Israeli hostages it holds in the Strip under the terms outlined in his proposal, and then called on Israel to cease bombing Gaza.
The Republican president's 20-point plan calls for an immediate end to the war, the release of Hamas hostages, and the formation of a transitional government for Gaza, overseen by the US president and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The proposal also includes the demilitarization of the Strip and the possibility of negotiating a Palestinian state in the future, something that the Israeli prime minister has, however, ruled out.
The White House confirmed that Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Cairo, Egypt, this Saturday to advance negotiations on the peace plan before its implementation.
