Buenrostro calls for amending the Audit Law to set resolution times for the ASF.

MEXICO CITY (apro) .- The Secretary of Anti-Corruption and Good Government, Raquel Buenrostro, sees the need for changes to the Oversight Law to set deadlines for the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) to issue opinions so that it does not have to wait too long to find out what was done well and what was not.
"The Superior Audit Office also has no deadline to close cases, which is a problem for us. Why? Because they open them, they are credited, and they don't issue a ruling. They don't tell us if it's right or wrong. And there are things that are neither right nor wrong, and they don't notify us, and they've been there for seven or 10 years," he said.
Buenrostro stated that they are now working with the ASF to complete audits "because they can't be open for years on end; and, furthermore, without telling us if what we're submitting is right or wrong, because we don't know if we're doing it right or wrong."
Given this situation, he believes it is necessary to modify some procedures to also set resolution times for the authorities.
"I believe the Law on Oversight of the Superior Audit Office of the Federation needs to be amended to establish a timeline," he asserted.
These allegations come amid accusations against the administration led by David Colmenares at the head of the ASF, whom former collaborators have accused of conducting audits to favor certain governments, as documented by Proceso magazine in its July and October issues of this year.
