Weekend Agenda: Day of the Dead Activities in Mexico City

Mexico City is preparing to celebrate the Day of the Dead with a series of cultural and traditional events honoring loved ones who have passed away, but whom we remember at the altar on these dates.
The various activities began these days and will continue until early November , so this weekend you can start planning your tour of the different parts of the capital that will be filled with color, music, and tradition.

Saturday, October 25
- Horror Mascot Race
It's organized by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and will take place in the Historic Center. After the race, you can take photos with the mascots and receive the traditional skull. The meeting point is on Avenida Juárez at 5:00 PM.
- Night Ride “Move by Bike”
Cyclists, skaters, and pedestrians will ride a 19-kilometer circuit through Paseo de la Reforma and the Historic Center. Participants can dress up and decorate their bikes. The starting point will be the Glorieta de la Diana Cazadora , from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 26
- Monumental Offering in the Zócalo
The traditional Monumental Offering takes place in the Plaza de la Constitución, in the heart of the Historic Center. This year, it will open at 12:00 p.m. , with a theme that pays homage to Tonantzin, the Aztec mother goddess, with figures over 10 meters tall, marigold flowers, and papel picado. It will be open to the public every day until November 2nd.
- Mega Procession of Catrinas
In this parade, you'll see Catrines and Catrinas march from Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo. The meeting point is at the Angel of Independence at 5:50 p.m., although it's recommended to arrive early because the main stage next to the Angel will begin with various activities starting at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday
The Futurama Cultural Center will host a horror festival, featuring themed movie screenings, cosplayers, trivia, prizes, and special snacks. The address is Cerrada de Otávalo 15, Lindavista, Gustavo A. Madero. Tickets cost 55 pesos, which will be donated to various nonprofits. This weekend's program includes:
Saturday, October 25 : The Nun - 12:30 p.m. / The Fly - 3:30 p.m. / The Exorcist - 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 26 : Halloween II - 12:30 p.m. / It - 3:30 p.m. / The Conjuring - 6:30 p.m. Also on this day is the Collector Bazaar, geared toward horror collectors.
- Coffee, chocolate and bread of the dead fair
You can find whole bean and ground coffee, as well as artisanal chocolate from different parts of Mexico, in addition to the traditional bread of the dead in many varieties. Just go to the Churubusco Convention Center at 1721 Calzada de Tlalpan, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

- Marigold Flower Festival
You'll see producers of this plant decorating the streets between the Angel of Independence and the Ahuehuete Roundabout, and they'll also be offering marigold products from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., until November 2nd.
The Monumental Alebrijes Parade exhibition will feature nearly 200 pieces displayed outdoors, which you can enjoy 24 hours a day, from the Angel of Independence to the Estela de Luz, until November 9.
- International Festival of Lights
The Mexico International Light Festival "Solo la Luz" will run from the Angel of Independence to the Estela de Luz, bringing together works by Mexican and international artists who work with light . You can view them from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, until October 29th.
