Edeeste files complaint against man who cut power lines

The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company ( Edeeste ) reported that it filed a formal complaint against a citizen who cut an electrical cable in the municipality of Higüey , province of La Altagracia.

This is Eli Alberto Martínez Martínez, who was caught on September 24 cutting a triplex distribution cable with a machete on Francisco Peña Gómez Street, in the Jobo Jaguey sector.

According to a press release from the institution, the citizen's actions caused an interruption in electrical service in the area and jeopardized the safety of the community , the technical brigades working in the area, and the attacker himself.

• Edeeste explained that, upon learning of the situation through the physical security personnel in Higüey , it proceeded to document the case and file the complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office , in accordance with the provisions of articles 262 and 263 of the Criminal Procedure Code .

The incident was captured on security cameras . The company also indicated that it provided as evidence a USB memory stick containing images of Mr. Martínez carrying out the illegal act.

In addition, he requested that the Public Prosecutor's Office conduct an investigation to gather evidence that would allow the accused to be brought to justice and convicted.
