Transporters prepare to suffocate Mexico City

Mexico City will be suffocated by marches and blockades next Wednesday, October 29th ; the stubbornness and indifference of some city officials in refusing to accept the fare increase and the provision of a fuel bonus leave no other option, according to members of the Broad Force of Transporters (FAT) .
In an interview, spokespersons for this group, which includes 8,000 members, confirmed that they have had no contact with the capital's authorities . They have ignored their requests and studies on their needs.

FAT members lamented that after 50 days of being ignored by the Mexico City government in their demands and not addressing the demands of the capital's leader, Clara Brugada , to listen to and resolve the transporters' demands , there is no other alternative.
The protesters claimed that the Government and Mobility departments closed the door on the possibility of authorizing the fare increase on concessioned public transportation .
They lamented that the Secretaries of Government, César Cravioto , and Héctor Ulises García , of Mobility, "have passed the buck from one to the other, without obeying what the Head of Government indicated and are no longer attending to the agreements she accepted to resolve and grant the fuel bonus and analyze the increase in public transport fares ."
Months ago, they recalled, the FAT submitted a feasibility study supporting the fare increase and the need for a fuel discount . They presented this in more than 60 roundtable discussions with the capital's authorities, where they only delivered unfulfilled promises.
The spokespersons mentioned that despite the dialogue established with the head of government and César Cravioto, to provide them with the delivery of the rate increase and homologation with the State of Mexico rate in the third week of September, this was not fulfilled.
The only recommendation they received was to restart the dialogue and scrap what had already been established, despite the fact that the FAT submitted studies that argue the urgency of the increase.
They recalled that in the metropolitan area of the State of Mexico, a 2-peso increase in public transportation fares has already been authorized , increasing the individual fare from 12 to 14 pesos. However, the non-implementation of this adjustment in Mexico City has stalled at 6 pesos as the minimum fare.
FAT members reiterated that, due to the lack of response from the city government and after reaching a consensus with their more than 8,000 members (who are owners of public transportation units) , they will mobilize on October 29.
