There is an orange storm alert for this Saturday, October 18: the affected provinces
Following a week marked by storms across much of the country, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a series of orange and yellow storm alerts for this Saturday, October 18. According to the agency under the Ministry of Defense, seven provinces will be affected by adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and possible hail.
The orange level applies to southeastern Jujuy and various areas of Salta and Tucumán . According to the agency, this alert level implies "dangerous meteorological phenomena for society, life, property, and the environment."
In these districts, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) warned that the area will be affected by heavy rain and storms, some locally severe, accompanied by heavy rainfall, hail , intense electrical activity , and gusts that could exceed 90 kilometers per hour. Accumulated rainfall of between 60 and 100 millimeters is expected, with the possibility of higher values in localized areas.
In addition, a yellow storm alert remains in effect for large areas of the north and center of the country. The provinces affected by this level are Salta , Jujuy , Santiago del Estero , Catamarca , Formosa , Misiones , and Tucumán . In these areas, the SMN indicated that locally strong storms could develop, with abundant rainfall in short periods, frequent electrical activity, occasional hail, and intense gusts that could reach 90 kilometers per hour . Accumulated precipitation values are estimated between 20 and 50 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding these records occasionally.
Given this situation, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) recommends staying indoors , staying away from electrical appliances, and avoiding the use of corded phones. It also advises against driving through flooded streets or staying outdoors during thunderstorms. If traveling, it is suggested to stay inside your vehicle, and if there is a risk of water entering your home, turn off the power. It is also recommended to have an emergency backpack ready with a flashlight, radio, documents, and a phone.

In the province of Buenos Aires , the forecast calls for similar conditions: partly cloudy in the morning and evening, with partly cloudy skies during the midday and afternoon. The high will be 21°C and the low 11°C. Winds of up to 22 kilometers per hour are expected during the afternoon and evening, with a slight increase in the coming days.
Elsewhere in the country, highs of 26°C and lows of 12°C are expected in Córdoba ; 20°C and 16°C in Tucumán ; 26°C and 12°C in Santa Fe ; 29°C and 17°C in Entre Ríos ; 19°C and 15°C in Jujuy ; 18°C and 15°C in Salta ; 27°C and 17°C in Misiones ; 23°C and 15°C in La Rioja; and 29°C and 15°C in Santiago del Estero .
Meanwhile, in San Luis , a high of 27°C and a low of 13°C are expected; in San Juan , 28°C and 13°C; in Mendoza , 23°C and 12°C; in Río Negro , 26°C and 3°C; in Chubut , 25°C and 8°C; and in Santa Cruz , 19°C and 6°C.
