IMSS and Conade join forces to promote a new high-performance sports center.

With details just a few minutes away from unveiling a collaborative program between the two entities, the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports and the Mexican Social Security Institute are collaborating to promote a project aimed at using the IMSS, which boasts the largest sports infrastructure in Latin America, as another breeding ground for high performance.
Given the urgent need for CONADE to find opportunities and partners to join the various projects, such as the development of social sports and physical activity in society, although with a focus on enabling the IMSS to develop its own talent pools for high performance.

In this regard, Hector García Antonio , coordinator of the IMSS Physical Culture and Sports Division, boasts that his alliance with Conade is currently primarily focused on sensing the different sports spaces that his institute has in each state , and from there, giving shape to this program that they will announce in the future for national sports development.
"The underlying objective is to continue strengthening physical activity in the country, and on the other hand, we're focused on creating technical and sports schools with the support of CONADE. We'll largely help with the infrastructure, and they'll help with their technical staff," García Antonio stated.
Three years after presenting the National Physical Activity Plan, which involved an investment of over 100 million pesos for the remodeling of IMSS sports facilities, the institute now boasts having evaluated 499 of its sports facilities across the country . "We have the largest athletic infrastructure in Latin America."

In 2025, the IMSS participated in the National Olympiad in 14 disciplines including athletics, cycling, fencing, judo, taekwondo, swimming, skateboarding, fronton, softball, baseball, 3X3 basketball, beach volleyball, triathlon and pentathlon.
