The Cyclamen Road is the most beautiful in Italy: from Lovere to Bienno at a slow pace.

Traveling in Italy isn't just about reaching a destination: it's about immersing yourself in breathtaking landscapes , discovering authentic villages, and savoring the local culture. This is the principle behind the new project " The 100 Most Beautiful Roads in Italy ," conceived by Italy Discovery and the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy , with funding from the Ministry of Tourism and the support of the Lombardy Region, ENIT, ANCI, UNCEM, UPI, and Italea.
The goal is to create sustainable tourism that enhances not only the destinations, but above all the route that connects them, transforming the route itself into a unique and unforgettable experience. With the Cyclamen Route , Lombardy becomes a leader in innovative tourism, where the route is as important as the destination, offering travelers the chance to discover the most authentic Italy, amidst pristine landscapes, historic villages, and unique flavors .
The 100 Most Beautiful Roads in Italy: A New Way to TravelTraditionally, Italian tourism has focused on destinations, from large urban centers to iconic landmarks. This project, however, is the birth of landscape tourism , a slow and sustainable way of traveling that invites you to discover every corner of the region. The selected routes pass through forests, hills, vineyards, cliff-top coastlines, and Alpine passes, offering postcard-perfect views and landscapes that seem painted on paper.
The project, which will last three years, involves certifying 100 roads considered the most beautiful in Italy . Each route becomes a cultural, historical, and food and wine itinerary that will offer the traveler a complete experience.
As Fiorello Primi , president of I Borghi più belli d'Italia , explains, “ certifying the most beautiful roads means protecting everything found along the routes and transforming travel into an essential element of Italian tourism .”
The project is aimed at everyone : those travelling by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot will be able to appreciate the network of carefully selected roads, designed to highlight the beauty of the countryside, rural landscapes and local products, thus promoting slow and sustainable tourism , for both Italians and foreign tourists.
The Cyclamen Road: Lombardy's JewelThe first road certified under the project is the Cyclamen Road , which will be inaugurated on September 15, 2025 , in Lovere , in the heart of Lombardy . This 60-kilometer route connects Lovere toBienno , crossing 15 municipalities between Lake Iseo , the Orobie Alps , and Val Camonica , and includes three of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Lovere, Clusone , and Bienno.

The Cyclamen Road offers extraordinary scenery : from the Presolana Pass to the Alta Val di Scalve, from the Orobie Bergamo parks to those of Adamello, up to the suggestive panoramas of the lakes and valleys.
Along the route, visitors encounter 21 agri-food products with protected designation of origin , historic buildings, museums, frescoes and numerous agritourism businesses.
The road is not just a journey, but a true itinerary of taste and culture , where each stop tells the story of local history and traditions.
Special events accompany the inauguration : a convoy of vintage cars from Bienno to Lovere and official ceremonies with the participation of local and national authorities.
The Cyclamen Road perfectly represents the idea of slow, mindful travel immersed in nature , positioning itself as a model for future roads to be certified throughout Italy.
