Sunday at the museum, free entry to these exhibition spaces on August 3rd

One of the most popular cultural events for locals and tourists returns in August: Sunday, August 3, 2025, the "Domenica al Museo" initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, will be renewed. Like every first Sunday of the month, free admission will be available to state museums, galleries, archaeological sites, and parks throughout Italy.
The initiative, launched in 2014, continues to enjoy great success. This is demonstrated by the numbers from the last edition, held on July 6th, which saw 195,350 visitors take advantage of free admission to enjoy the country's artistic and archaeological heritage. This confirms the strong interest in culture and the widespread desire to rediscover the symbolic places of our history, often little-known but of extraordinary value.
Some of the museums to visitAmong the museums participating in the initiative are major institutions such as the Uffizi Gallery in Florence , home to Renaissance masterpieces, and the National Archaeological Museum of Naples , with its rich collection of ancient artifacts. The Colosseum in Rome and the adjacent Roman Forum will also open their doors free of charge, offering a journey through the history of ancient Rome. Also in the capital, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Villa Torlonia Museums, and the Museum of Rome in Trastevere will also be free.
In Puglia, the Swabian Castle in Bari can be visited without a ticket, while in the North, the Egyptian Museum in Turin , one of the most important in the world dedicated to ancient Egypt, will be open to visitors free of charge all day. In Milan, the Brera Art Gallery, the Museum of Leonardo's Last Supper, the Sforza Castle Museums, the Gallery of Modern Art (GAM), and the Civic Museum of Natural History are all participating. These are just a few examples of the more than 450 state institutions participating in the initiative, offering everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in Italian art and culture.
How to participate in the initiativeVisits will take place during the participating institutions' regular opening hours. Reservations are recommended and in some cases may be required, according to the guidelines of each museum or archaeological park. For a more seamless experience, you can use the official Musei Italiani app, which provides quick access to practical information, tickets, and real-time updates.
