Roccamonfina, the village with the longest bruschetta in the world

Roccamonfina , a Campanian village nestled in the splendid area of the Roccamonfina-Foce Garigliano Regional Park, is a place that blends volcanic nature, ancient history and gastronomic traditions.
Last year, the record-breaking “ bruschettone ” was created – the longest bruschetta stuffed with local products in the world, reaching 88 metres in length, thus setting a new Guinness World Record – during the PGI Chestnut and Porcini Mushroom Festival.
What to see in RoccamonfinaThe village of Roccamonfina lies within an ancient volcanic crater, on land that still retains the fertility conferred by its geological origins. Surrounded by centuries-old chestnut groves, the site offers panoramic views and green trails.
Among the destinations not to be missed is the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Lattani , founded in 1430 after the discovery of a statue of the Madonna, with frescoes and rooms of spiritual charm.
In the historic center, in the main square, is the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore , of medieval origin, with its bell tower decorated with majolica from 1775 and sacred furnishings – in the Parish Museum.
In the surrounding area, you can explore the regional park's trails, which connect forests, volcanic craters, and relaxing landscapes for nature hikes. Furthermore, archaeological remains and historical traces linked to the Aurunci enrich the itineraries for local history enthusiasts.
How to reach the villageRoccamonfina is located in the province of Caserta , about 70 km northwest of Naples and 40 km from Caserta itself. The village lies at an altitude of about 600 m above sea level, inside a volcanic crater.
For those traveling by train , the nearest station is Sessa Aurunca-Roccamonfina , on the Rome-Formia-Naples line. From there, a road transfer to the town center is required.
Those arriving by car can take the provincial roads that ascend from the valley floors or nearby areas, passing through wooded and winding landscapes. During the festival, many organized excursions include a shuttle service or tour buses that take visitors directly to the village. It's advisable to check local bus schedules on official websites and any parking areas available at the entrance to the village to simplify access.
