The twentieth birthday of Strafossone

Fossone (Carrara), 6 July 2025 – Twenty years of running, enthusiasm and participation: on Sunday 13 July the Strafossone celebrates its twentieth anniversary in 2025, confirming itself as one of the most heartfelt running events on the Apuan coast. The start, as per tradition, will take place from the sports field in Fossone, in the heart of the countryside adjacent to Carrara. The race, fast and suitable for lovers of the plain, develops over a course of just under 9 kilometers through the streets of the village. Every year it attracts a growing number of athletes: not only the best local talents, but also runners from all over Tuscany – from Florence to Maremma – drawn by the quality of the organization and the rich prizes up for grabs. The technical value of the event is also recognized by the Italian Sports Center, which has included the Strafossone among the trials valid for qualification for the CSI National Championships. But the real strength of this race lies in the tireless spirit of the organizers of ASD Strafossone, led by Giorgio Malacarni and supported by his family and a large group of friends. With passion and commitment they manage to propose an impeccable event every year, attentive to all categories, with particular attention to young people, for whom there is never a lack of prizes and moments of celebration.

The next event scheduled by the organizers will be the evocative "Corsa di Marmo", scheduled for Sunday 3 August at 9 am, with an extraordinary arrival inside the Cava di Fantiscritti, just above Carrara. A unique opportunity to run in a place full of history, where Michelangelo extracted the marble for his immortal works. An experience that combines sport, culture and scenic wonder.
