2006 World Cup winner set to become new Milan Future head coach

Milan have officially announced the departure of Daniele Bonera, who had served as head coach of Milan Futuro since its inception in the summer, and now the Rossoneri are turning to 2006 World Cup winner Massimo Oddo to replace him.
Bonera has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect having recorded just four league victories from the first 28 matches of the 2024-25 season. Milan Futuro currently sit in 18th place in Serie C Group B with four wins, 10 draws and 14 losses for a total of 22 points.
Milan Futuro – Milan's reserve side – was officially founded in the summer and began competing in Serie C at the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The Rossoneri are one of three Serie A sides to have an affiliated side in Serie C, along with Juventus Next Gen and Atalanta U23.
Milan Future turn to Oddo
According to reports from multiple outlets, the Futuro side are set to appoint Massimo Oddo as Bonera's replacement.
The 48-year-old came through the Rossoneri youth ranks in the 1990s and stayed on the club's books until 1999 without making a single appearance for the first team in Serie A. He later returned for a five-year spell between 2007 and 2012. Oddo was also part of Italy's 2006 World Cup winning squad.
Oddo's coaching career began with Pescara, where he was appointed as the successor to current Lazio coach Marco Baroni. He led the then-Serie B outfit to promotion, and spent seven months in Serie A before getting the sack. He would later have another brief spell in the top flight with Udinese.
Since then, Oddo has taken charge of Crotone, Perugia twice, Pescara again, SPAL and two spells with Padova.
