Fight for Dignity: Precarious Rai Workers Protest

In front of the Rai headquarters in via Teulada, precarious workers raised their voices with signs and banners that read phrases like “Fair Contract” and “Stop programmers without fair contract”. The demonstration, called by the assembly of over 300 journalists of the so-called Phase 2, highlighted concerns about the regularization of contracts and the risk of emptying the newsrooms of information programs.
These professionals, who produce some of Rai's best-known programs, are asking for decisive intervention to ensure their job stability.
Support from the journalistic communityJournalists from top programs such as Report, Presa Diretta, and Mi manda Rai 3 also participated in the demonstration. These professionals emphasized the importance of preserving the tradition of investigative journalism, as established in the Rai service contract. The presence of political figures and representatives of associations further highlighted the gravity of the situation, with interventions that reiterated the importance of guaranteeing rights and dignity to precarious workers.
The words of the protagonistsRoberto Natale, member of the Rai board of directors, assured that there will be attention to the workers' requests, but warned that the company's response cannot be a simple concession. Sigfrido Ranucci, host of Report, expressed his concern for the future of the newsrooms, highlighting that precarious colleagues are essential to the success of many programs.
