Interventions along via Marconi in Montevarchi, the questioning

Arezzo, 22 May 2025 – The undersigned Group Leader Fabio Camiciottoli of Avanti Montevarchi – Europa Verde, Cristina Rossi of
Common Commitment questions the Mayor and the Councilor for Public Works regarding the need for interventions along Via Marconi.
Given that the undersigned Group Leaders are increasingly urged by our fellow citizens
so that the Administration intervenes with adequate maintenance activities of the road surface as well as the
improved pedestrian crossings.
Given that the danger and consequent difficulty in using the crossing is also reported
pedestrian crossing at ground level present in coincidence with the parking lot at the height of the previous speed detector. In
Among the critical issues, the lack of lighting and the high speeds on the road are particularly highlighted
especially at certain times of the day. Furthermore, the need for rapid interventions on the sidewalks is reported in
as the maintenance condition does not favor easy use.
Remembering that in the recent past, following numerous requests from citizens and Councillors
Municipalities, raised illuminated crossings were built along Viale Marconi in order to facilitate
crossing more safely and limiting speed.
It should also be remembered that recently the Prefect has also intervened regarding road safety and
need to implement virtuous forms to encourage the achievement of better safety standards.
Finally, we recall our question for a written answer posed in the session of 22 December 2022 having
subject "Street lighting. Answers needed" which we attach for your knowledge and as part
integral to this.
Considering that raised pedestrian crossings – elements for us to pursue – represent an important
element to promote the improvement of safety provided that they are made in such a way as to
be well visible and illuminated
Furthermore, it is considered that in order to improve safety, in addition to the construction of raised pedestrian crossings, it is necessary
exploit new 3D signage techniques and install – especially along high-traffic roads such as
example viale Marconi or via della Chiantigiana – more speed indicators to remind the
users to limit it.
Given all of the above, the undersigned Group Leaders
In sharing the concerns and requests of the citizens, they URGE the Mayor and the Councilor for
Public Works to provide specific directions to the offices so that they can be addressed in a timely manner
the above-mentioned problems quickly resolve in the vicinity of the level crossing
THEY ASK THE MAYOR AND THE COMPETENT COUNCILLOR
How and when do they intend to intervene to provide a response to the critical issues present in
crossing coincidence
That a specific reconnaissance be carried out along Viale Marconi to verify the state
relating to crossings and pavements reporting to the undersigned with respect to the findings and the
actions that the Administration intends to pursue in the short term.
Considering that in previous questions posed on the subject of Via Marconi the then councilor had
highlighted that to improve safety along Via Marconi a lot of economic resources were needed and
an overall project for which to request funding. IT IS ALSO ASKED if
The Administration has carried out feasibility studies. If so, WE REQUEST that they be made available
the writers are required, in the negative case, to explain the reasons why, after having indicated them as
necessary, have not been performed.

THE MONTEVARCHI CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON 22 DECEMBER 2022
INTERPELLATION
- in written response -
Subject: Street lighting. Need answers
Given that with the implementation of the public-private partnership relating to the management of the
public lighting the winning company is carrying out the modification of the lighting equipment
Replacing existing lights with LED fixtures
Considering that many of our fellow citizens report to us that
following the installation of new devices, especially in high traffic areas
such as via Marconi, visibility seems reduced.
the raised pedestrian crossings are not very visible as they are poorly lit due to the
lack of lighting systems at some crossings and equipment
illuminating and reflective on the ramps of the raised structure.
the double-lamp flashing lighting system on Via Marconi – system
operated with a special panel – indicating the pedestrian crossing would not be
function properly.
Considering that upstream of the installation of new lighting devices or
replacement/modification of the existing ones requires a project and specific lighting checks
Considering that raised pedestrian crossings – elements for us to pursue – represent a
important element to promote the improvement of safety provided that they are
made in such a way as to be clearly visible and illuminated.
given the above, the undersigned Group Leaders of the Council
In urging further investment in road safety and greater control
THEY ASK THE MAYOR AND THE COMPETENT COUNCILLOR
To know and acquire the lighting checks that are the basis for the implementation of the
new LED lighting fixtures
To know what actions they intend to implement to resolve the critical issues highlighted and within
when to implement them.
