Elections in Rozzano: the vote in the municipality of Fedez and Biagio Antonacci, a mirror of Italian contradictions

Rozzano – On May 25 and 26, the vote will return after the death of the incumbent mayor, Gianni Ferretti . In the city, which has 41,758 inhabitants, there are 31,560 eligible voters . There are two candidates for mayor. The center-right is banking heavily on Rozzano, to the point of having mobilized high-level leaders and ministers , who have already stopped in the town during the election campaign: among them, Matteo Salvini, Giuseppe Valditara and Ignazio La Russa .
The center-rightThe coalition has chosen Mattia Ferretti, son of former mayor Gianni Ferretti , who died last November. There are five lists supporting his candidacy: Rozzano for Ferretti mayor, Forza Italia, Fratelli d'Italia, Lega and Alleanza for Rozzano.
The center-leftThe center-left, in an attempt to reconquer a city that it had always governed until six years ago, has also deployed its leaders : Giuseppe Conte and Elly Schlein have arrived in Rozzano. The center-left supports Leone Leo Missi with a broad coalition, which includes the Rozzano list for Missi mayor, the 5 Star Movement, the Green Left Alliance and the Democratic Party.
The contradictions of RozzanoRozzano is a city with two faces. On one side, the excellences: the Humanitas hospital , the astronomical observatory and the great cultural events. It is the city of famous people such as Michele Alboreto , Fedez and Biagio Accantonaci . On the other side, however, critical issues emerge: the problem of drug dealing , against which a constant battle is underway by the local police and the Carabinieri, is concentrated above all in the largest working-class neighborhood in Italy , where half of the city's population lives. Also for this reason, Rozzano was included in the Caivano Bis decree, and the Aler neighborhood was declared a red zone starting in March.
The question of degradationThen there is the city centre, severely degraded , where work is underway to create a new commercial area, an intervention promised and awaited for thirty years, the construction of which finally started last year.
Even though Rozzano has over 15 thousand inhabitants, everything will be decided in the first round, since there are only two candidates in the running. A runoff would only occur in the case of a perfect tie between the two . Just one more vote is enough to win in the first round.
