The Blue Flags are flying. The charge of the magnificent winds: "Here are the most beautiful beaches"

The Blue Flags fly in the Marche. With twenty municipalities on the list and a new entry – Campofilone, in the Fermo area – the region almost reaches the podium of the best: it is fourth in condominium with Campania, after Liguria, Puglia and Calabria. Timbrato Fee (Foundation for environmental education), an international organization active in the field of environmental education and sustainable development that since 1987 has assigned the prestigious recognition to the coastal municipalities with the cleanest sea (or lake), the most beautiful beaches and the best services. In fact, the selection criteria include not only the quality of bathing water or the purification of waste water, but also waste management, traffic regulation, safety, services on the beach and this year, for the first time, also a plan for environmental sustainability.
THE PAINTING IN ITALY
In the list of excellences - awarded yesterday at the CNR headquarters in Rome - there are 246 Municipalities (against 236 last year), 84 tourist ports (81 in 2024), for a total of 487 awarded beaches. Among the fifteen new entries, Campofilone also stands out, demonstrating the commitment carried out in Fermo, which had already celebrated the entry of Porto Sant'Elpidio into the club in 2024. At a regional level, the Marche region thus boasts an excellent fourth place, moving up one position compared to last year. Liguria is still in pole position with 33 Blue Flags, followed by Puglia (27) and Calabria (23).
PEARLS IN THE MARCHE REGION
Among the provinces of the Marche, Fermo is in the lead with six Blue Flag Municipalities. In addition to the new entry Campofilone (Tyers' promenade), there are in fact Porto Sant'Elpidio (central-southern promenade), Fermo (Lido di Fermo, Casabianca, Marina Palmense), Altidona (Paolo Borsellino promenade), Pedaso (Singers' promenade) and Porto San Giorgio (central-northern promenade and central-southern promenade). Then there are the provinces of Ancona and Pesaro, each with four awarded locations: in the Ancona area, the unmissable Senigallia (western beach) with the "velvet beach" shine, Ancona and the pearl Portonovo, Sirolo (Sassi Neri, San Michele, Urbani and Due Sorelle) and Numana (lower Numana/northern Marcelli, upper Numana).
In the Pesaro area, there is glory for Gabicce Mare (Lido), in Pesaro confirmations for the Ponente and Sottomonte sections, Levante and Baia Flaminia are excluded; in Fano recognition for Torrette, Sassonia, north (except Arzilla) and Lido, then here is Mondolfo with Marotta. The province of Macerata makes a plein with all three coastal municipalities - Porto Recanati (north and central coast), Potenza Picena (north-center Lido and south Lido) and Civitanova (north and south seafronts) -, while in the Piceno area, Cupra Marittima (Lido), Grottammare (south, north beaches) and San Benedetto (Riviera delle Palme) stand out.
THE LANDINGS
Not only municipalities, but also landing places: in the Marche the Blue Flags go to the Circolo nautico sambenedettese (San Benedetto), to the Marina di Porto San Giorgio, to the tourist port of Numana, to Marina Dorica (Ancona), to the port of Rovere in Senigallia and to the Marina dei Cesari in Fano.
"Receiving twenty Blue Flags, one more than last year – says governor Francesco Acquaroli –, is an extraordinary result, which recognizes the quality and beauty of our territory and above all gives credit to the work carried out by local administrations, tourism operators and citizens, who with commitment contribute to the protection of the environment and the enhancement of our territory".
