Chiara Poggi murder, Sempio house searched: Carabinieri also at parents and two friends, after 18 years the weapon is being searched

The investigations in Garlasco

18 years after the murder that became one of the most followed news stories in Italy, the “ Garlasco crime ”, the murder that took place in the town in the province of Pavia where Chiara Poggi died on 13 August 2007, the carabinieri are now aiming to recover the murder weapon.
It is yet another turning point in the investigation into the murder, for which her then-boyfriend Alberto Stasi was definitively sentenced to 16 years. In recent weeks, the Prosecutor's Office had entered Andrea Sempio, 37 years old and a friend of Chiara's brother at the time, in the register of suspects , and this morning the Carabinieri went to his home for a search in which phones and PCs were seized .
Sempio had already been investigated at the time of the murder, when he was 19, and then shelved. So the new notice of investigation for the computer scientist after a new investigation on the DNA with latest generation methods and techniques: his genetic material was found under Poggi's fingernails, according to the Stasi expert who started the new investigation.
The military also went to the home of Sempio's parents , in Garlasco, and of two of his friends, not under investigation , both of whom were also friends of Chiara Poggi's brother.
Sempio's mother, Daniela Ferrari, had been heard in recent weeks as a person informed of the facts, but had availed herself of the right to remain silent before claiming illness. The aim of the investigators was to verify what she and her son had done and said on the morning of Chiara's murder, in particular regarding that receipt from a parking lot in Vigevano that Sempio had given to the police more than a year later as "proof" of his absence from Garlasco that August 13.

Sempio's two friends frequented the house on Via Pascoli where Chiara Poggi died and their names already appear in a technical report by the Carabinieri dated 8 February 2024. The investigators had already acquired biological material on the two for comparisons, in view of the consultancy, and also for the activities of the evidentiary incident, whose hearing for the assignment of tasks is scheduled for Friday in Pavia.
What is surprising, however, is the search for the murder weapon , 18 years after that murder: the Carabinieri are in fact combing some fields in the area of Tromello , a municipality that borders Garlasco, in search of the possible murder weapon. Among the most accredited hypotheses is that 26-year-old Chiara Poggi was killed with a poker from a fireplace set in the Poggi house.
