Somma Lombardo - The provincial Anpi also mobilizes against the far-right rally - - Varese News

We receive and publish the intervention of the provincial Anpi Varese regarding the summit of the extreme right that was supposed to be held in a hotel in Somma Lombardo . Yesterday, Friday 9 May, the management actually announced that the event, the Remigration Summit 2025, will not be held in that location. It will therefore not be in the Hotel and perhaps not even in Somma Lombardo, but it is not excluded that the organizers are looking for another location in the area, since the conference has been announced for months in the area near Malpensa. —
In view of the next Remigration Summit 2025, presumably scheduled to be held at the Dolce Milan Hotel in Somma Lombardo on Saturday 17 May, we feel obliged to express our firm opposition to hosting an event that will have as its guest (as stated on his profile on the social media platform “X”) Rasmus Paludan, a Danish politician from the xenophobic party Stram Kurs. Paludan's statements and proposals, which aim at the systematic expulsion of every non-Western person who has received asylum in Denmark, cannot and must not find a place in any society that claims to be civilized and democratic.
The ideas expressed by the Stram Kurs party are not only disturbing, but they bring to mind dark periods in history, when the persecution and deportation of innocents also marked our community. It is unacceptable that similar positions, which foment hatred and division, can circulate with equal dignity in a territory that knows the suffering of deportation, such as that of the Italian Jews stopped at the border crossings with Switzerland, arrested by the fascist republican police, and deported to the Nazi extermination camps like many political opponents during the two-year period 1943-1945 of the War of Liberation from Nazi-fascism.
It even appears that Paludan has activated a fundraiser on the “GiveSendGo” platform to support the costs of organizing the event (which has reached the remarkable figure of €4,622 out of a €5,000 goal, so far). It is not sober as declared by Minister Salvini to appeal to the principle of freedom of speech "by all" to open the circulation of xenophobic and racist ideas in open and declared contrast with the content of art. 3 of the Italian Constitution. Italian Constitution on which he swore by assuming the ministerial office. And his declared ignorance of the content of this event does not justify this statement. On the contrary, it aggravates it.
Furthermore, we underline that the Dolce Milan Hotel in Somma Lombardo, being a public establishment (open to both guests and the public), cannot be considered on a par with a private place, where such nefarious ideologies can be propagated without challenge. The presence of an event that legitimizes xenophobia and discrimination in a space so accessible to all is a cause for great concern for us.
We therefore invite local authorities and institutions, but also the Dolce Milan Hotel in Somma Lombardo itself, to reconsider the opportunity to host an event of this nature and to instead promote initiatives that celebrate diversity and sharing between peoples as called for only yesterday by the newly proclaimed Pope Leo XIV.
It is essential that, as our partisans have taught us, we all unite to affirm the values of inclusion and respect, rejecting all forms of intolerance, discrimination and hatred. In this regard, we invite the associations and parties of the Varese Provincial Forum for the 80th anniversary of the liberation, led by the provincial Anpi Varese, to join our appeal.
Now and always resistance.
