At the northern tip of the Gard region, near the Ardèche, there is a small corner of Provence that some like to call Gardèchistan and which, although secret, conceals a wealth of treasures. Here nestle stone villages, set in landscapes where lavender fields rub shoulders with vineyards and olive trees, where rivers trace refreshing lines of life in the heart of a universe as green as it is mineral.
Let's start our walk in Aiguèze, a peaceful medieval village that seems to have merged with the cliff on which it clings, overlooking a bend in the Ardèche. Following the troglodyte patrol path, you'll discover the keep and the Saracen tower, remains of the 8th - century fortified castle, as well as a superb viewpoint over the river.
