This iconic rugby tournament returns to Mourillon, with profits donated to an association

This year again, the P'ti Ru is replanting its flag in the sands of Mourillon. Held in Toulon since 1993, the iconic touch rugby tournament will welcome around twenty teams and more than 200 players of all ages and levels this Saturday, July 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

"Even if the sporting aspect is not overlooked, we want to bring the rugby community together to have a good time together," says Damien Delmonte, one of the organizers.

The event always has a charitable dimension, since the profits are donated to a structure supporting "people who need it" .

For this 27th edition, the association Comme un Ruck was chosen as the beneficiary.

Chaired by François Trinh-Duc, a former RCT and French national team player, it works for the emancipation and education of children in Vietnam.

"François Trinh-Duc will be coming down with a team from his hometown, from Pic Saint-Loup (north of Hérault)," says Damien. "It's the first time we've brought a team from so far away for a weekend!"

Many RCT alumni

In addition to the former fly-half, other rugby players, past and present, are expected on the beach pitch next to the Mourillon leisure centre, including Mickaël Ivaldi, Camille Traversa, Michel Perié, Aubin Hueber, Thierry Louvet, and Pierre Mignoni, the RCT coach who was behind the creation of the tournament in 1993.

On the stands, we will also find a face who defended the red and black jersey, since Sébastien Bruno will be manning the catering point.

A wheelchair rugby demonstration and Krav Maga initiations are also planned.

The organizers expect a constant flow of 500 people during this festive, sporting and solidarity tournament.
