The UTMB, the race that revolutionized its sport

Launched in 2003, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) has quickly become a must-see event in the world of ultra-trail running. With a demanding course of over 170 kilometers around the Mont-Blanc massif, accumulating nearly 10,000 meters of elevation gain, this race brings together the world's trail running elite every year.
In just a few years, the number of UTMB participants has exploded. Today, the capacity is limited: 10,000 people try to register, but 2,500 runners can start the main race.
In its wake, the UTMB has contributed significantly to the popularity of running and trail running. But, having become a huge machine, it has also attracted a lot of criticism.
