Rugby, Federal 3 (round of 32 second leg): Le Bugue loses by the skin of its teeth

The season is over for Le Bugue, who lost to Isle (25-21) this Sunday. A defeat conceded at the very end of regulation time on a penalty awarded to the Isles, and obviously full of regret for the players from the Dordogne.

Winners 25-23 in the first leg, Le Bugue put in a performance with plenty of initiative this Sunday against Isle and even scored two tries. But they were punished at the last minute and ultimately lost. Isle got off to a good start by scoring a penalty in the second minute through Ramisse (3-0). But Le Bugue responded very quickly. After an initial breakthrough from Vasquez on the left side, the play bounced to the right and Pierre Pechet picked up the ball to cross the line (3-5, 13th). Forced to react, the Islois stormed the Vézériens' 22. A great moment, but unfortunately, Condachou and his teammates missed the final move. JAI was finally rewarded with only a penalty by Ramisse (6-5, 25th) but Vasquez, for Le Bugue, imitated him in the process and put Buguois back in front (6-8, 28th).

The game then changed pace. Le Bugue remained impenetrable and thus maintained its lead at half-time.

A crossroads

After the break, the Buguoise team capitalized on their savings with another penalty from Vasquez (6-11, 43rd). Ramisse returned the favor and Isle even got back on track by going for a cross. On a long kick from Ramisse, Le Bugue fullback Lucas Muller missed his clearance and Visuara intercepted (16-11, 49th). On the hour mark, Isle received a red card and Le Bugue scored another try through captain Peyrat who sprinted to behind the line after a good touchline in midfield (16-18). But the back-and-forth continued more than ever in the final stretch with penalties. Ramisse put Isle back on track six minutes from the buzzer (22-18, 74th). But four minutes later, Vasquez did the same for Le Bugue (22-21, 78th).

As regulation time had just ended, the referee awarded a final penalty to the Haut-Viennois, and Ramisse, from 52 meters, slightly off-center, put his attempt between the posts (25-21, 80th), which put an end to the Bugue adventure.
